UX and Design Lead

  • Location: San Francisco Bay Area
  • Type: Full time
  • Experience: 3+ years or equivalent as demonstrated

About PURE

Pure is a next-generation platform providing timely, unbiased service for tenants, property owners, and property managers.

We use software where it shines; removing or reducing the time-consuming tasks for property managers, while ensuring owners get paid on time, and tenants receive efficient service and safe, pleasant accommodation.

Our group is small today, but growing. We like others who are passionate about their craft and enjoy collaborating with others, and seeing their contributions through to production and the impact they have on our users.

About the Role

Our users define us, and we care deeply about their needs. We're hiring a User Experience and Design Lead to join our team in the Bay Area, and lead these efforts to success.

If you're excited to be the voice of our users, to define their experience with our products and manage critical components through to success, we'd love to chat!

Joining Pure at this early stage, means you'll see all parts of the business, helping build the team (and the product) as we grow. You'll be a key part of shaping Pure's culture from the outset.

We're looking for an experienced UX and Design individual who enjoys seeing the impact of their ideas and their actions on users. We operate a lightweight agile development process and give our team the freedom and autonomy to do the right thing, and the support to validate their ideas and carry them forward to production.

You enjoy:

  • Being an advocate for Pure's users; our tenants, our owners, and our property managers.
  • Working closely with the product and engineering folks to hone ideas and concepts.
  • Defining the design system and interaction patterns across our platform products, ensuring they operate cohesively.
  • Using data and empirical evidence to validate assumptions and guide decisions.

You are:

  • Curious, empathic, and user centric.
  • Analytical and able to distill complex issues into simple solutions.

UX and Design Timeline

Within 1 month, you will

  • Familiarize yourself with the competitive landscape.
  • Meet users, understand the needs of tenants, owners and property managers.
  • Plan an approach for evolution (or revolution) of the platform product UX to address these needs.

Within 3 months, you will

  • Work with the product and engineering teams to define and prioritize the next steps for the platform UX and Design.
  • Plan and prioritize a backlog with the wider team, to meet the product growth needs.

Within 6 months, you will

  • Help coordinate product dependencies and lead major features through development to production.
  • Take point on significant new functionality and/or platform improvements.

Within 12 month, you will

  • Grow the UX and Design team.
  • Use The Force, for it is strong with you.

Our values

While we're a new company, we know we value the following:

  • User empathy - our users define our business. We believe we can build better products by listening to their needs, understanding their motivations, and building tools to address them.
  • Freedom and responsibility - we aim to provide you with the tools and support you need to carry ideas through to fruition. With that, we expect you to be diligent in your work and learn from your mistakes to optimize final outcomes.
  • Team support - growing a business is a team sport. We're looking for people who are kind to their teammates and in both their words and actions.
